...Demon In My View tryptichs

This assignment was super late for my electronic media teacher Marco, I spent a lot of time drawing and inking and minimal time digitally colouring it in. As a result i'm recolouring them over x-mas break until I get them right, so for now here's a shot of the mini tryptichs.

Content was supposed to deal with life and death, which is still evident - but as I drew, I felt it branched out to themes of weight, and its relentless attachment. I initially intended those characters in the background to have a sort of menacing presence, but now that I look back, it seems I'd made them appear quite content - like they're laughing at whatever it is they're attached to - which I suppose creates its own sense of menace.

close ups to follow.

Long overdue

How many times am I really going to say "I'm back"? Especially since I never really left in the first place, I've just been neglecting this space for one reason or another.

Here are some paintings from the summer (still under construction). With me, anything painted tightly goes horribly awry, so needless to say there's a sense of loose paint application taking over these pieces. I'm still largely experimental in both process and final look, but at least its now enjoyable - even if its coming along little by little.

beyond the comfort zone (soon)

Here's a couple of close ups on recent drawings I'm working on, they are on watercolour paper and wood. I realized after I was finished that it was a lot tighter than how I want to paint it as, but I guess the fun will come in obliterating that said tightness. I'm still trying to figure out a process which includes colour in it, and hopefully these pieces won't get shunned like Kip Drordy once I start adding colour. Either way, here they are now, I'm still adding value, though I'm sure I'll tire and skip to the next stage (or project) eventually.

Just a few pages to keep it moving, more to come.

Look at me, almost rounding off a full month without a post. The title refers not only to my posting tendencies, or subject content, or ramblings, or thought process...but also to the internet connection I am currently stealing working from. Here are a couple of pages from my sketchbook, a bit out of my element, but I'm trying to start renew a relationship with paint/colour.

Oh and to make up for the absence of posts, check out more sketchbook pieces here.

Hi haters, I'm back off of hiatus...sort of.

Long time no post. here are a couple of doodles from my sketchbook, they're all still works in progress. If they ever get any more finished than this, I will surely post them.

Subjects and themes range from the Complacency which faces Lebron, to well...I don't even know any more. I just found these images visually appealing enough to replicate them on paper.

Also, I promise to eventually post some works that aren't bound in a small book of semi good quality paper. Cheers to promises, and more posts...sooner rather than later.

Preview Over

So here are the twelve images for computer studies, tweaked the contrast a little to pump up the dark spots. Now I just have to colour them...and I am foregoing the teacher's request for a full palette, cause well - screw that. My colour theory and application is nowhere near a satisfactory level for that. That's stupid.

I gotta say that once I actually settled on this idea, I had a lot of fun drawing it out. This boy, for further reference - is the Man. Walking through a world like this? What a badass. Before him I thought this kid was the biggest badass ever (Pam Rogers FTW!).

Yesssir. Signing out before I get too sidetracked and this stays in black and white, Thank you, come again.

Thanks Cormac

It took a good read to finally get me started on the dreaded final assignment for computer studies. It initally sounded appealing to me, since it's a project which focuses on boner-inducing narrative art, our task was to create 12 images for a calendar (one for each month) and to have the images be connected sequentially. But after struggling to settle on an idea, the project drifted off to the backburner, and stayed there indefinately.

Until Mr. McCarthy came along that is. Cormac McCarthy's book The Road(now a Motion picture as well) became a sort of inspiration for the series of images. it is a simple book, centred around a man and his son, living day by day on a post-apocalyptic earth.
It is bleak. Bleaker than bleak actually...errr the shit is just sad - but that's what made it unique and I definately recommend it to any fans of literature out there.

Anyways, my 12 images are similarly about a boy travelling through some destitute world, I will post all twelve images upon completion, but for now here is the boy and the sketch for January. Stay tuned for the rest, Peace Out!

sketch bag

More sketchbook goodies, sorry Computer Studies - I wish I could say why this is taking a priority over course work at this point in the year, especially with so much going on but hey - who cares right? Not me, that's for sure.

The first image was just a random drawing a little while ago, touched up digitally.
And yes, i am aware that there are probably better brushes than the ones I have been experimenting with so far (not to mention colours other than Red) - but I'm stubborn, and I like what I like. I'm also new to digital media, so right now this is the one for me.

The second image is what prompted the title of this blog - in the words of my room mate J.P. "Yesss to creative outlets!"

You can check him out at http://pollak88.carbonmade.com/, wicked stuff it is.

A few pages down the road from the first one and there's this. Done with graphite and caveman photoshop tactics.

quote: "My father might not approve, but I'm no longer his disciple. I'm a master now, an idea transcended into life. And so this is my new path, which is a lot like the old one, only mine. To stay on that path, I need to work harder, explore new rituals, evolve. I'm done asking questions. I don't have the answers. Does anyone?"
